"We have to hold 'an overhaul' of our country, ensure development of municipal infrastructure to trigger the recovery of the national economy," Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman said opening the Wednesday plenary meeting of the Ukrainian Parliament.
"Look: villages, small towns and cities' infrastructure requires immediate restoration, they need high-quality services and much better living standards. It means we have to overhaul the whole country," he said.
Support for municipal infrastructure will allow creation of jobs and trigger economic development of the country, the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada said.
According to Groysman, the agenda of the Wednesday plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada envisions the consideration of the draft law on Ratification of the Municipal Infrastructure Development Program.
He reminded that thanks to the funds allocated to local authorities in the framework of the financial decentralization, there is a resource to repair local infrastructure. Besides, additional funds, in words of the Ukrainian Speaker, can be provided by international partners, which is envisioned by respective international agreements. Thus, Groysman called on people's deputies to support such initiatives.
